  • Homeowners who want to do wildfire mitigation now have access to millions of dollars in matching funds from the state. Lawmakers re-authorized a 2008 bill that provides tax credits for 50 percent of a homeowners mitigation costs up to $2,500. But that only helps so much if neighbors don’t mitigate as well. So they passed another law aimed at helping entire communities do mitigation. It provides nearly $10 million in matching grants for not only local governments, but homeowners associations. (KCNC)
  • Police say more children may have been sexually assaulted by a babysitter in Arapahoe County. Justin Jefferson, 22, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting several children while babysitting them. Families hired him off of a website and police believe there could be more victims. Jefferson is now behind bars for sexually assaulting two young boys. He was hired through the website Care.com, a trusted site dedicated to making it easier to find care for a family. (KCNC)
  • The tiny red and white helicopter sitting on the helipad might look like any other, but since it arrived a year ago, the aircraft and its crew have reduced by half the amount of time it takes to transport a patient to Medical Center of the Rockies (Coloradoan)
  • The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is back in business for the first time since the wildfire there earlier this month. The railroad was able to make its full 22-mile round trip on Friday. The cables from the tramway that was destroyed by the fire have finally been cleared.(AP)
  • Wildfire season is so bad this year that some county leaders aren’t even warning anyone about firework restrictions — they’re just handing out tickets. And open fire bans are being put in place across the state. Boulder police say those caught with illegal fireworks could possibly be arrested.(Daily Camera)
  • Jhoulys Chacin pitched seven shutout innings and had an RBI single and the Colorado Rockies snapped their season-high five-game losing skid by beating the Washington Nationals 7-1 on Saturday afternoon. (KCNC)
