  • Authorities have issued a warning about the high water levels in Clear Creek. High water can quickly turn to flash flooding, according to authorities. This week’s warm temperatures caused snow to melt quickly, forcing water levels to surge
  • Black Forest fire 55% contained; some evacuees allowed to return home.  483 homes lost and another 17 damaged.
  • A stolen car had to be pulled out of Clear Creek Saturday morning. Dive teams found the vehicle submerged in the rapids.
  • A fire broke out at Union Station in downtown Denver on Saturday. The fire happened in a construction area — specifically a stairway on the side of the historic building.  Union Station is getting a complete makeover that will expand its facilities to include bus service and light rail.  Denver firefighters were able to quickly knock down the blaze. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
  • A woman in Boulder was driving drunk and crashed her car on the way to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting last October. Now, after causing some serious damage and injuries, she’ll be spending some time behind bars. Brenda Geers, 73, pleaded guilty to vehicular assault and DUI and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and five days probation.
  • A fire has destroyed half of a duplex in the 1100 block of North Clinton Street.  One person was injured and taken to the hospital. Four adults and three children living there have been displaced.
  • A Westminster bicyclist has died a week after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, police said Saturday
  • Tyler Chatwood pitched five effective innings in his return from a triceps injury, Tyler Colvin homered during Colorado’s six-run first, and the Rockies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.
  • Scott's Liquid Gold shareholders voted Friday at their annual meeting on a proposal by Scott's biggest outside investor to explore putting the 62-year-old Denver company up for sale.
  • U.S. 36 Overhaul:  $425 million highway widening effort moves into what construction managers are calling "the meat" of the endeavor.  Miles more of roadway will be squeezed into constricted lanes, three major bridges will be pulverized and brought to the ground and the new concrete road surface will get its first pour starting late next month. The number of workers in the corridor will swell, from the 250 or so today to more than 400.
  • Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park to be closed for two weeks
  • An undercover sting operation led to conviction of a Loveland doctor for writing an illegitimate medical-marijuana license, and a second doctor is set for trial on the same charge in July.
